Alpais introduces cell-level sensing solutions for early detection of electrolyte leakage and low-electrolyte conditions in wet-cell industrial battery applications.
The solution uses a new Battery Module design with dedicated ports for cell leakage and low-electrolyte level sensors, depending on the project scope.
What this solution covers
- Cell leakage detection at battery cell level
- Low-electrolyte level monitoring
- New Battery Module design with dedicated sensor ports
- Status-based OK / Alarm monitoring through the Alpais Interface
- Application for wet-cell industrial batteries such as Ni-Cd and flooded lead-acid batteries
Cell-Level Sensing for Wet-Cell Batteries
Low-electrolyte level monitoring provides continuous monitoring of electrolyte levels, supporting proactive maintenance and reducing the risk of capacity loss, overheating, and premature battery failure.
Cell leakage detection enables early identification of electrolyte leakage at the cell level, helping prevent corrosion, insulation degradation, and safety risks in wet-cell and industrial battery installations.
Sensor Options
- Low-electrolyte level sensor
- Cell leakage sensor
- New design Battery Module
New Battery Module Design
The standard Battery Module has 3 ports for data communication between modules and a measurement cable to connect to the battery terminals.
In the new Battery Module design, 2 additional ports are added to collect data from cell leakage and low-electrolyte level sensors. The sensors and the new Battery Module design are integrated into the Alpais BMS architecture.
Application on the Battery
The application may include the following components depending on battery type, terminal configuration, and project scope:
- 1 new Battery Module
- 1 measurement cable as standard
- 1 cell leakage sensor with 2 rings for each terminal of the battery, depending on battery type and terminal configuration
- 1 low-electrolyte level sensor for each battery
This solution is applicable for wet-cell industrial batteries such as Ni-Cd and flooded lead-acid batteries.

Monitoring and Alarm Notification
The sensors provide status-based OK / Alarm monitoring integrated into the Alpais Interface.
The Alpais Interface presents cell leakage and low-electrolyte level statuses in the general list, displayed as “Leakage” and “Level” in the interface.
If an alarm condition occurs, the system generates an alarm and notifies the user. Registered email addresses are notified in the same manner as other Alpais alarm conditions.
